“Father of the Year” is a 2018 American comedic movie. It is directed by Tyler Spindel and produced by Allen Covert. The movie is written by Brandon Cournoyer and Tyler Spindel. Brad Shield is the cinematographer, and Alan Au is the art director. Elmo Weber gave the music, and J.J. Titone and Jason Gourson edited the film. Perry Andelin Blake is the production designer, and Virginia Johnson is the costume designer. Happy Madison Productions is the movie’s production company.

Plot

The movie is about two friends, Ben (Joey Bragg) and Lary (Matt Shively). Ben got a job in New York Click to look into! >> Read More... , and Lary decided to go on an adventure. They both graduated from college and are now going to their childhood hometown to bid a final goodbye to their families.

After reaching home, they decide to go to a local bar. The two drunken friends make a bet with each other. The bet is on their fathers – whose father will win in a fight. When their fathers, Wayne (David Spade) and Mardy (Nat Faxon), get to know about this bet, they take it seriously and engage in a conflict with each other. This fight becomes very serious, resulting in Ben’s job loss, broken relations. How is this fight going to end? Will Ben get his job back? Watch the movie to know this.

Star Performance

Joey Bragg and Matt Shively executed their roles excellently. Their performances in the local bar scene are fantastic. David Spade did his role really well. He adds strength to this movie. His comedy makes everyone laugh. Nat Faxon’s acting is okayish. Bridgit Mendler and the rest of the cast did everything required.

Analysis

The movie is full of comedic scenes, but those who need an engaging type of comedy will not like this. Some of the jokes fall flat and fail to make the audience laugh. The only problem with this film is that it has a predictable story. Upon learning of his son’s job loss, Wayne tries to get it back. What will happen next is easily predictable. Only because of the great performances of the cast, especially David Spade, the film became enjoyable.

What’s There?

Hilarious movie. The comedy in this movie makes it extremely entertaining.
Fantastic acting and dialogue delivery by David Spade.
The virtual reality part is superb.

What’s Not There?

The story is predictable and falls flat at some points.

Verdict

Father of the Year is a super hilarious movie. However, it is not for those who need an engaging type of comedy. The comedy in this movie is for the ones who laugh at anything. You can watch this movie with your kids. It is worth- watching.
