Kimberly Elise does the role of Crystal, Janet Jackson does the role of Jo, and Loretta Devine does the role of Juanita. Crystal’s life is miserable as a neglected lover; Jo does the role of Janet Jackson whose profession as a magazine editor is successful. But, her husband is a dubious person.

Plot: The plot revolves around a group of black women who reside in the same apartments. These women have problems in their personal life and have other obstacles to encounter. Juanita is a counselor to set right relationships, but her relationship is in troubled waters. The sad plight binds together all of these people.

Director Tyler Perry has tried his level best to design the script such that it matches the poetry from which he has drawn inspiration. But, the whole movie is in an a disarray, and the screenplay seems to be out of gear. The movie has good intentions in it, but the final output does not please the audience. The movie tries to project how it is to be in the shoes of a woman, and only the best of acting could keep the story interesting. Watching the movie gives a bizarre feeling. Every artist in the movie including Whoopi Goldberg She is one of the few that gave us tremendous laug >> Read More... fails to impress. The reason is that they cannot perform beyond the shoddy script given. The characters seem to be conveying the most affected of the deliveries on screen. There is a variety of characters in the movie, and none adds to the movie’s color.

Verdict: The movie has an ensemble cast of the blacks, and that is something invigorating in the movie. The problem is that the movie proves to have a mediocre storyline.
