It is an adaptation of the famous novel “Gulliver’s Travels”.

Plot: Lemuel Gulliver(Jack Black) is distressed at his current low-end job at a New York City Newspaper mailroom. He talks to his boss about his passion i.e. to be a content writer in the hopes that the boss would listen. Actually, he just makes this up so as to escape his boring job. Eventually the boss gives in to his repeated requests and asks him to write some content. He assures her of some fantastic content she would never have seen which actually is a plagiarized content from different web sources. She is impressed by his writing work and immediately asks him to travel to Bermuda Triangle and cover all the mysteries surrounding it in an article or something.

Gulliver agrees and travels to Bermuda only to be caught in a storm and later on washed ashore to Lilliput, the town of tiny-sized people. He is taken prisoner and is declared a “beast” and is seen as a threat to the town. He comes to know that another prisoner by the name Horatio though native is also captured as he dared to express love for the Princess of Lilliput. Meanwhile, a neighbor island Blefuscu infiltrates Lilliput army in order to take Princess into hostage, but the plan is foiled by Gulliver, who not only rescues Princess but also her father. Gulliver becomes the hero of Lilliput but still a lot has to be done for the townspeople. Meanwhile, he gets angry voicemails from his boss who now knows of his plagiarisms and now loathes him.

Edward, the commander-in-chief of the Lilliput army, gets enraged by the treatment endowed to Gulliver and plans on killing him and later on claim the princess and kingdom. He joins hands with the Blefuscians and builds a robot out of the instructions stated in the Guitar Hero 3 manual Gulliver has in the wrecked boat. The rest of the story is how Gulliver defeats Edward and bids adieu to the small town and goes back to his normal life where he is happily reconciled with his boss and now a dear friend.

Analysis: For the people who have watched Kung Fu Panda Kung Fu Panda Legend of awesomeness is a Popular T >> Read More... would know who Jack Black is, the multi-talented personality dons the role of Gulliver here and does it so perfectly that you cannot help but applaud. The cinematography is razor sharp with the fine screenplay, Gulliver’s travel actually has its fair share of moments which would make you go kids again.

Star Performances: Jack Black takes the center stage here “dwarfing” everyone but yet keeping them together to support his act; Amanda Peet looks pretty and cute when she is furious with Gulliver; the chemistry is not an extreme romantic fiesta but still, is cute and beautiful.

What's There?

• Awesome screenplay and fine cinematography, you won’t be down with energy at any instant.

• Comic acts by Black, which are rib-tickling. • Novel has been justified to every bit.

What's Not There?

• Jack extends his comic role a tad too much which sometimes feels irritating.

• Amanda Peet looks prettier for a haranguing Boss.

Verdict: Gulliver’s Travels must not be missed. It is a perfect time pass or a full on hit comedy mixed with some bizarre but funny scenes. Go for this fantastic movie.
