The movie, “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” takes our imagination back to our childhood where I am sure all of us had read the famous fantasy novel ‘Hansel and Gretel’, but never thought about what happens when they grow up. Well, the director, with the hold of this fact, brings out a plot and picturizes the after-they-grow-up part. PLOT:

Hansel and Gretel have grown up and become powerful witch hunters, who make it their motto to hunt down all the witches to save mankind. Their dreadful nightmare, which is their past, haunts them to take up this brave decision. Soon, in a village, around eleven kids go missing, and the Mayor summons Hansel and Gretel to help them search for the children. They believe the children have been kidnapped by a witch. The brother-sister save Mina, who was getting accused of witchcraft by a sheriff. Soon, the plot intensifies as they find out that the Blood Moon will approach in three days, and a powerful witch named Muriel is making a plan to sacrifice the lives of the eleven kids, whom she kidnapped, with a secret ingredient and protect the witch life-line against fire.

ANALYSIS:

Many fairy-tale adaptations to cinema had already been tried earlier and many ran successfully, while many did not. The film came out to be good, and the actors have also done a good job. Those who expect a “what happened when they grew up” question in their head can look out for this movie as it won’t dismay them. Though the obvious plot holes and the much-predicted ending doesn’t make it much appealing, the action scenes are pretty good, and one can sit back and enjoy the laughter. As the director’s debut, it is a very high budget movie, and definitely, the promise was there.

WHAT’S THERE?

A fun movie.
Hansel-Gretel characters themselves give you a reason to watch it.
Nice fairy-tale adaptation.

WHAT’S NOT THERE?

Quite predictable along with plot holes and the ending.

VERDICT:

It’s just a one-time movie to enjoy. If one has a lot of expectations, it can’t be met as the plot is quite predictable. But for the weekend, you can opt for this.
