Plot:

The story is very simple and does not require the viewer to wrestle with the idea. Henry is one sturdy guy who finds himself in strange surroundings and later finds that it is a laboratory. He has no recollection about how he landed up in the mess. The videogame like feel is the hero of the movie. Otherwise, Sharlto Copley is the only person with some notable personality in the movie.

Analysis

The movie has a notable feature about it, that is, the cameras mounted on the head. The movie’s title derives its name from the hero Hardcore Henry. The audiences see what the protagonist of the movie sets his eyes on. All that the movie could manage is to give the feeling of playing a video game.

What is There?

There are some credits that the opening scene deserves.
The idea that there is no first hero in the movie is novelty itself.
Henry is just a robotic existence and camera eyes glide giving the impression of Henry looking at things, and carrying out the action.
The cinematography is commendable.

What is Not There?

The movie is definitely not for those suffering from sickness to constant moving about.
The movie would have been a lot better if it had been a narrative like many other successful action movies.
The action scenes in the movie seem to be very stereotyped.
There are lot of logic defying scenes in the movie, and many scenes prove irrational.
The background scenes seem very underdeveloped and make us feel that the director had a dearth of ideas.
There is a tinge of predictability throughout the movie which causes an irritated groan amidst the audience.

Verdict:

Overall the videogame semblance is too sweet for words that it causes a sickly overdose in the audiences.
