Plot

Nick, Dale, and Kurt are three friends who are fed up with their bosses. They contemplate quitting their jobs. However, a night at the pub gives them a more twisted idea. Can the frustrated trio get rid of their bosses ‘for good’?

Star Performances

Following a topsy-turvy stint, director Seth Gordon has decided to turn over a new leaf. With ‘Horrible Bosses,’ he does pack a punch.

The trio of Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day show the daily struggles of the average Joe quite well. Along with them, their snooty bosses, played by Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jennifer Aniston respectively, leave a memorable impression.

Analysis

Murder. Car chase. Scandal. Conspiracy. Blackmail. Revenge. This is a great recipe for a riveting thriller, or maybe an intense action drama. However, give it to Seth Gordon and his team of writers, and you get ‘Horrible Bosses,’ a juvenile comedy nobody asked for, but what we all deserve.

Despite the ludicrous setting, the writers have created a dark comedy that is both hilarious, as well as thrilling. The corporate woes are something every employee around the world will root for, having suffered the same at least once. However, the twisted solution is something that generates the interest of the viewers. How the bumbling trio of employees go on to get rid of their problems ‘for good’ is a unique journey of its own.

Maybe the biggest asset is also a minor hurdle for the film: the casting. However, the performances more than make up for it. The casting of this movie is one reason why you should go ahead. From underrated gems like Jason Sudeikis, and Charles Day, to seasoned stalwarts like Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, etc., you name it and they all register their presence in style. Oh, did we forget that there is Jennifer Anniston too?

The narrative is well executed, the thrills evoke curiosity, and the acting performances are just brilliant.

Verdict

‘Horrible Bosses’ is a fun ride that none expected at all. The writers bring an innovative touch to a somewhat predictable plot, and the actors make this an experience to remember. Do watch it!
