All they need to know that this enthralling adventure comedy about a clever young Viking includes some violence and a little scary images of dragons which could scare some young movie-goers. To put a cherry on the cake, the 3D effects, ups the intensity of the action. So are you ready for the journey?

The plot:

Island of Berk, is where all the crazy things happen, a place where dragons steal livestock, Stoick, the Vast, is the chieftain and happens to have an awkward looking, son, Hiccup, and more importantly, he is small, too small to slay or attack a dragon. Everything seems to be normal, until Hiccup shoots an extremely rare and dangerous dragon. Later he finds the dragon trapped in forest, injured and crippled. Hiccup, with the help of the blacksmith Gobber, makes a harness for him to fly again. He names the dragon, “toothless” for his broken teeth, and gradually domesticates him.

On learning about his son’s adventure, Stoick, the Vast, undertakes a fleet to locate the dragon’s nest, but comes back unsuccessful. Forcefully, put to dragon fighting school, Hiccup becomes a pro in subduing the captive dragons. Astrid, Hiccup’s crush, discovers that Hiccup is training Toothless, but before she can tell the village, Hiccup rides her to show his relation with the dragon.

The story takes a turn, when Hiccup is able to subdue a captive dragon, in his final test as a trainee, in front of his father, but somehow Stoick is successful in angering the dragon to attacking. Toothless, tries to protect Hiccup in between the panic, but is captured by the Vikings. Hiccup accidentally reveals to Stoick, that Toothless knows where the dragon’s nest are located. Stoick disowns his son, and chains Toothless as a guide, on the main ship, to locate the nest. While the Vikings had ousted the other dragons, however Red Death, who was a dangerous one, excites them, until Hiccup, Astrid and their fellow pupils provide a cover fire to the other dragons. Hiccup almost drowns while saving toothless from the chains. On seeing this, Hiccup is rescued by his father, and the family reconciles. Together they slay the Red Death, but Hiccup is injured in the battle. Unconscious Hiccup, wakes up to his foot replacement and a perfect harmonious world where the Vikings and the dragons live peacefully.

Analysis:

A perfect plot for romanticizing a hero who is no good than a zero. A Norse teenager, with progressive views and an abstract sense of humour, makes him a misfit, especially where dragons steal livestock. Tossed into a dragon fighting school (even after being small), he proves to be a true Viking, when he becomes friend with an injured dragon, names him Toothless, and carves a new path for his people’s future.
