Howl is a low-budget railway horror movie that has hit the screens now. Well, let’s see whether it gives goosebumps to us.

Plot

The passengers of a late-night train end up in a situation wherein they come face to face with monsters. Watch the movie to experience the tensions of the group at risk.

Star Performances

Ed Speelers does an exceptional job in his well-written part; his performance is very realistic. Sean Pertwee sprinkles a genuine warmth to his otherwise brief role. His character and his presence would surely make you want to see more of him in the screen. Duncan Preston too has done a neat job.

Analysis

The director of the movie, Paul Hyett, has tried to be novel with regard to the physical appearance of the werewolves. However, the result is not that very convincing.

What’s there?

  • There are many scenes in which the director creates real tension.
  • The dialogues flow well with the pace of the movie.
  • The editing of Agnieszka Liggett is commendable.

What’s not there?

  • The script of Howl is mostly tested and tried and it doesn’t walk in the path of being unusual.
  • The presence of werewolves is not adequately discussed in the movie. If the reason for their survival is adequately discussed the movie would have been even more interesting.
  • It looks as though the characters have a resemblance to the various horror movies that we have seen.

Verdict

The portrayals will garner your sympathy, however  the movie is clichéd in most of the scenes.
