The first independence was achieved almost twenty years back when the Earth faced an alien invasion. Now two decades later are the planet’s defenses enough?

Plot: Twenty years after the devastating alien attack on the Earth which killed billions of people, the United Nations is all set with their technologically advanced defense program, the Earth Space Defense (ESD). Meanwhile, the alien destroyer which held aliens captive was damaged by the aliens inside. They drilled a hole in the ship and sent SOS messages home. A spherical ship is found transpiring from a hole near the ESD headquarters which is believed to belong to extra-terrestrials. This ship starts drilling a hole in the North Atlantic and thereby destroying the Earth’s magnetic field.

The officers of the ESD organize a space-tug which is in turn caught in the gravity pull of the alien’s ship and destroys major parts of Asia. The ESD discover the fact that there is a cosmic Queen, who is ordering her forces to destroy Earth and if this Queen is destroyed, her army would back-off. The first attack on the queen by a fleet of hybrid ESD fighters with their officers fails as the queen comes to know of it even before its execution. The next attack is planned with precision, luring the queen’s ship to an area filled with weapons. Whether the queen gets killed, and the earth saved a second time is for the audience to see.

Analysis: Independence Day Click to look into! >> Read More... - Resurgence” is a spectacle directed by Roland Emmerich. The movie is most appealing when the visual part is taken into concern. Though the smashing buildings and the falling landscapes might be disturbing for some, they do make a fantastic movie. The movie, available for 3D viewing is one of a kind, with its real life-like scenes which are sure to give goose-bumps to the audience.

Star Performances: All the stars in the movie are outstanding in their skills as artists. They have been linked with the first part also and were bound to deliver amazing performances.

What’s There: The large alien spacecraft, the fighter jets, the war machinery provide the most magnificent, breath-taking effects. 3-D viewing provides a realistic touch to the movie.

What’s Not There: Though the visuals are worth appreciating, these skills alone are not enough in 2016 as they were in 1996 when the prequel was released. There are no new actors to attract the audience. “Independence Day- Resurgence” lacks the emotional quotient which binds the characters together. There are too many actors in the movie, and this creates certain chaos in a few of the scenes.

Verdict: Roland Emmerich can undoubtedly be declared the best director for such a large-scale spectacle of a movie. The viewers will be thrilled to see the show. A definite must-watch for all those who were waiting for the sequel to “Independence Day” and for those who are first-timers for the movie will also equally enjoy.
