This conventional biopic is about the former First Lady and her life of grief after her husband’s assassination. This iconic role is portrayed by the Oscar-winning performer Natalie Portman She was considered to be a gifted actress of Holly >> Read More... . This film is directed by the Chilean Filmmaker, Pablo Larrain, this being his first English language movie.

Plot:

The movie showcases those days in the life of Jacqueline Kennedy after her husband’s assassination, John F Kennedy, president of the United States. It tells us about how the First Lady dealt with all the responsibilities despite all the pain and tragedy in her life. The movie is based on an interview Jacqueline gave to an unknown journalist, played by Billy Crudup Georgann and Thomas Henry gave birth to Billy Crud >> Read More... of the Life Magazines, who came over at the Kennedy mansion to interview her. From the interview, the movie goes back to several flashbacks to outline the events that took place before and after JFK’s assassination. Jackie is pictured dealing with her children, the staff, the new president and his staff and making a way out of the White House, and trying to refine her husband’s image, all at once.

Analysis:

The movie solely focuses on telling us how the First lady deals with her duties and rarely shows her grieving her husband’s loss. The costume design is showing exactly how Mrs. Kennedy was a style icon when she lived in the White House. Jackie’s character has pictured her as a lady with poise and flexibility rather than the women herself.

Star Performance:

Natalie Portman is the central focus in the film. Portman’s expressions, body language, the way she carries out her role conveys the frustration and grief of the women who have to tackle with media, politics, and a whole country despite being suffering from pain and mourning the death of her husband. Natalie’s acting has rightly portrayed a woman making amends to her husband’s image in the world and sketches the public image of a dignified First Lady not revealing how devastated she is in front of everyone.

What’s there?

1. The costume design is very pensive with the character.

2. The movie is visually eye-catching.

What’s not there?

1. Other than Portman, the other characters are sidelined, only focusing on the events revolving around her.

2. The flaws with Portman’s character is that she is not seen grieving or suffering from pain in front of the public or when she is alone.

Verdict:

Portman’s captivating performance has made it the best biopic drama into a good movie, though during the hard times for the people in the US.
