“Just listen with your mind your heart your whole being,” said Xia Chow (trainer) to Kurt Sloan in Kickboxer 1989. Kickboxer 3D is a remake of the 1989 version. Eric Sloane is America’s world champion in kickboxing in the United States. His brother who knows kickboxing as well Kurt Sloane is his corner man. Eric defeats all competitors he could ever in America and now seeks to defeat champions of kickboxing in Thailand, the origin of kickboxing. The two arrive in Thailand and head for the ring where Tong Po (champion of Thailand) is waiting for Eric.
Kurt realizes soon that the techniques used in Thailand are very different from those that are done in America and warns his brother and asks him to stay out of the fight. But the world champion turns a deaf ear to Kurt’s plea. Tong Po smashes the World Champion’s ego and ends his life. Enraged by his brother’s death Kurt turns to Eric’s mentor, Master Durand (in the 1989 movie Xian Chow) to avenge his brother’s death and kill Tong Po. Master Durand trains Kurt in Muay Thai (Thai boxing). Kurt learns humility and timely breathing that are important to win a fight.
Alain Moussi, a stunt man, plays the role of Kurt Sloane, and Jean-Claude Van Damme (previously Kurt Sloane) plays the role of Master Durand. Dave Bautista (WWE champion) who starred in Guardians of the Galaxy is Tong Po in the film. Darren Shahlavi, who was initially chosen to play the role of Eric Sloane, died in 2015; John Stockwell director of the film is dedicating the film to Darren. The movie release date is yet to be announced.
