Plot

The movie begins with a conversation on acceptance of Christianity. The entire movie is divided into two different areas but connected by one family. The father, Rayford Steele, is a pilot and the daughter, Chloe Steele, can’t stand being preached about Christianity by Chloe’s mother, Irene Steele.

Rayford takes off the flight and Chloe goes to the mall with her younger brother. Unusual things take place in both their areas, small children and some adults begin to disappear suddenly. All the ones left behind are panic-struck, and there is chaos all over. Ultimately they realise that it is the time when the Rapture, as written in the Bible has begun. The aircraft is under danger of the fuel running out, there is no network connection, and there is the unavailability of landing. Rayford manages to contact his daughter and explains the situation to her. Will Chloe be able to help her father to land the aircraft safely? Will they be to live in a state where disappearances have become common? Is Rapture going to occur? To unravel these questions watch the movie.

Star Performances

Acting did not take the audience to levels of awe but at the same time, it didn’t go to the extent of upsetting the audiences.

Analysis

This movie is based on a book by Tim La Haye and Jerry B, with the same name. It revolves around the last day on Earth and how people face the trauma.

What’s there?

  • The movie delivers what it is meant to in an emotional manner taking into account the sensitivity of the matter.
  • With hints of comedy, it takes the sensitive topic well until the end.
  • The base theme is such that it is more relatable to the people who have read the Bible.

What’s not there?

As in the case of the majority of the movie adaptations of books, this too fails to bring out the essence of a best-selling book in a short timeframe.

Verdict

The movie has only momentary shares of good execution.
