Plot

The film’s protagonist is Ethan, played by Thomas Mann. The opening scenes show him having dinner with his parents and his siblings. Although this was their first family dinner in months, Ethan rushes out to go back to college to work on an experiment with his girlfriend Hannah, played by Nicola Peltz. The couple is trying to produce wireless electricity, but their experiments fail, and they rush out of their college lab with their equipment. A few hours later, Ethan was informed that his parents died in a car accident. Ethan quits college and moves back home to support his siblings, Matt, played by Percy Hynes White, and Becca, played by Kate Moyer. Six months later, Ethan is working in a hardware store while raising his grief-stricken siblings. He also works on his experiment in the garage. His experiment is still unsuccessful, but the machine is menacingly drawing the energy of the dead in their vicinity. Spooky things start happening in their neighborhood, with ghostly presences in their house, and Becca starts talking to their parents. The film follows Ethan and his siblings’ encounters with the terrorizing spirits and how they fight against them.     

Star Performance

The entire cast performs well. The child actors perform exceptionally well.

Analysis

The film is a good horror thriller. The film’s first half is more like a thriller, with suspense building up, and the second half has a plethora of horror elements.

Verdict

Overall, the film has focused more on the thriller aspect and has just an inkling of horror. The actors perform well, and the story is thrilling and suspenseful. “Our House” would be a good watch for thriller, horror genre enthusiasts.
