It is about a soldier in Rome, looking for Jesus who resurrected after being crucified. Many Hebrew prisoners, Jesus (Yeshua) included, were killed. The remains of Jesus, stored in a guarded cave goes missing the next morning. The plot takes a turn at this point, as people start to believe that there is going to be a miraculous return of missing Jesus. But, the city needs to be in control of the Roman Empire, as the emperor was to visit. Clavius is left with no option but, to become a detective and gather all the information about Jesus and start finding out what happened to him.
During the journey to know who exactly Jesus was and to find him, Clavius hears each person stating about a miraculous return which was to happen. Does Clavius succeed with his search? Does the miracle really take place? Experience the event that changed the world, through the eyes of a non-believer.
Analysis: The direction by Kevin Reynolds in the movie seems to amplify the small details, to show the precise ancient Roman culture and their rituals, so as to allow to you to visualize every scene. The cinematography and screenplay have done a commendable job with the ancient set up throughout the movie. The action scenes done with the help of the stunt masters is also pretty good. The outline of the story will appeal to you.
Star performances: Joseph Fiennes’s performance is remarkable in this movie. His cynical and robust nature, for the given character, made Clavius seem more observant than the rest of the soldiers.
