The movie is the first film debut of Daniel Scheienert, and Daniel Kawn, who are jointly known as the Daniels, and are best known for their work with the videos like Turn Down For What. They bring forth the story which goes from comical to intense at few points while beautifully depicting a story that it unique in every way.
Plot: The movie starts with a view of a deserted island where there is a person named Hank ( Paul Dano Paul Franklin Dano took birth on June 19, 1984, in >> Read More... ), he had left behind, and now he had lost every hope of returning home. Just when he was about to suicide he comes across a body (Daniel Redcliff), who was originally thought as a shipwreck survivor. In his attempt to resurrect him from dead, he manages to take out fresh water out from the lifeless body, creating something like the water fountain. With the help of the corpse, Hank found another piece of land carries him throughout the jungle telling him everything about him.
The corpse, however, somehow knows how to speak, but he forgot everything about him. So, Hank gave him a name of his own he calls him Manny and teaches him everything he knows. They both shared their lives with each other their hopes their dreams and their ambitions throughout the motion picture.
Analysis: The flick cannot say to be a survival guide, yet it is a perfect blend of comedy and emotional Drama. The flick creates an environment of its own; we can experience its magic, and the various aspects of the film-making like storytelling, music, effects of the camera which shows the uniqueness of the characters in different situations. Sometimes, the movie looks silly, illogical but there are also those moments which make you stand up and look twice because it had to strike a nerve.
Star Performances:Â The Star performance throughout the movie had delivered by these two characters Hank and Manny, who has some sort of relation which father have with his son. They take you through a journey which is epic, funny, enthusiastic and emotional at the same time. They create their space in time giving you a story that has a language and lesson of its own.
What’s there?
• The motion picture can be positively called comedy flick as it has made us laugh at many moments.
• The two men’s performances were enough for the motion picture to go one throughout 95 minutes.
• The movie is not exactly realistic but time to time it gives you a feeling in a dream light situations.
What’s not there?
• The cinema cannot say to be a survival guide.
• The plot was not enough for the whole running time.
• Sometimes it lacks the wow element and a dramatic ending, in short, it can be said that it had many endings instead of one.
Verdict: The flick, however, may not be the best one you would watch, but it will not be the worst one on your list.
