The unbeatable comedian, Melissa McCarthy Melissa McCarthy is an eminent actress, writer, pr >> Read More... is back with another movie about the life of a failed woman who tries her best find out her true purpose with her grandmother through a road trip, which she wrote and produced with her husband and director, Ben Falcone. 

Plot: She is playing the title role of Tammy, who, even if she is secretly self-doubting and in need for some comfort and friendship, outwardly is an extremely hot-headed and foul-mouthed woman with not a care in the world. One day, when she gets fired from her job at a fast-food restaurant and comes home to find out that her husband is cheating on her, she decides to pack her bags and leave. After reluctantly picking up her grandma, Pearl, she sets off in her car for a road trip, which is where Tammy’s misadventures with her grandmother seem to have no bounds. 

Melissa McCarthy has played this role of Tammy with absolute brilliance, like one would expect from her since she is one of those comedians who have so much of a bright screen presence, she can literally play any role given to her. The chemistry between her and Pearl is also another important as their relationship completely changes from the beginning to the end, owing to all the troubles that they both go through together, which brings them closer so that they come to know about each other. In spite being of being a comedy, the sentimentality between the pair as towards the end Tammy asks her to seek help for her alcoholism easily shines through both the actors commendable performance. 

The pace of the holds well as the audience takes a roller-coaster ride with Tammy and her grandmother as they skip from one trouble to another, from shop-lifting to jail, to robbery, to some more jail time, to a burned car, and many other things. It is a fun watch as the other supporting actors also perform well, and the funny and unpredictable plot is what makes the efforts of McCarthy worthwhile. 

Verdict: To this very good attempt at a comedy to focus on the familiar relationship skipping a generation and proving how flawed people connect better with each other, I give this movie 3 out of 5 victories.
