Plot

Following his ‘expulsion’ from Gotham City, Bruce Wayne is living in seclusion. However, he is forced to return as Batman after Bane, a terrorist who aims to fulfill the desire of Ra’s al Ghul to destroy Gotham. However, he is not the only one pursuing the dreaded mercenary, as Selina Kyle, a devious burglar, is after him as well.

Star Performances

This is one of the few films, where even an extra’s efforts count. Full credits to writer cum director Christopher Nolan, who has ended his trilogy on a glorious high.

Irrespective of what people say, Christian Bale and Michael Caine shall be always remembered for being one of the most iconic pair of actors to have portrayed Batman and his loyal butler, Alfred.

Special mention to Anne Hathaway, who is both captivating and lethal in the role of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman.

Analysis

Christopher Nolan is well known for his penchant for perfection. If he picks up a project, he ensures that it remains an unforgettable experience for his viewers. The ‘Batman trilogy’ has been irrefutable evidence of the same, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is a fitting closure to the illustrious legacy that started with ‘Batman Begins.’

From start to end, the film is simply phenomenal. You do not need to be a comic book aficionado to fall in love with this film. The emotional, as well as the visual effects more than make up for it. We are also introduced to the brilliance of Tom Hardy, who strikes a menacing presence as Bane. He might not be the perfect antagonist as the late Heath Ledger “Why so serious?” This is just one his intimidatin >> Read More... , but Tom’s Bane does give tough competition to him.

Christian Bale and Michael Caine are phenomenal as always. However, this time, it is the women actors, who surprise everyone with their finesse. Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate packs a punch, with every layer of her character shocking the audience. However, it is Anne Hathaway who is the ultimate showstopper as the Catwoman.
