For the uninitiated this is the director’s eight endeavor. 

Plot

Few journeyers and a prisoner are going towards the region of Red Rock. The weather is not welcoming, and they resort to a haberdashery. All the individuals tell their story, and everyone possess a weapon. This set of seven people are greedy for money, and things take an ominous turn. To aggravate the situation, there is only a little food in their place. 

Star Performances

The casting of the movie is perfect; all the actors have done an exemplary job. Samuel L Jackson’s role deserves special recognition. As an ex-Civil War veteran who turns into a bounty hunter, he does an outstanding job. The comedy element is handled well by Goggins. Jennifer Lason Leigh has delivered a stunning performance, and her stoic portrayal is commendable. 

Analysis 

The director Quentin Tarantino has the flair to narrate a story with outstanding visuals. He also has taken a different route and doesn’t stick on to the normal conventions. Various genres are smartly interwoven in this movie, and this is gratifying to his die-hard fans. The director delves into pertinent themes like racial hierarchy and the required justice. 

What’s there?

  • The snowclad Wyoming locale is captivating. 
  • The opening scene deserves special mention amongst all the openings scenes of Tarantino’s films. 
  • You tend to connect with the characters in the movie, thanks to the superb etching of Tarantino.
  • The intensity in this movie is commendable.
  • The background score of the movie is outstanding. 
  • The movie is interspersed with suspense throughout the time frame. 
  • The second half of the movie is handled well by the director. 

What’s not there?

  • The narration of the movie lacks pace in the beginning. 
  • There is some dreadful violence in the movie, and some of the dialogues are crude.
  • The movie is lengthy which will test the patience of some audience. 

Verdict

Tarantino has taken a route that is rarely explored by his contemporaries. This itself deserves credit. But the weak-hearted can abstain from the film.
