Have you ever heard of crayons saving the day? This animated film ‘ The Hero of Color City’ is a movie which is filled with colors and adorable characters. Frank Gladstone’s has succeeded with flying colors. Voicing the characters, we have Christina Ricci (Yellow crayon), Wayne Brady (Heroic Blue), Rosie Perez (Sassy Red), Jess Harnell (Brainy Green), Jeremy Guskin (Nervous White), and David Kaye (Pessimistic Black).
The storyline follows with Yellow, a timid crayon who has to fight through her fears. Yellow and her fellow crayons are the property of a six-year-old boy, who loves drawing, but when he goes to sleep at night all his crayons come alive. Their crayon box serves as a portal or a door to the color city. This Color city is a small town along the lines of a reminiscent Candyland all kids love. Here, crayons of all colors can relax and get a spa that rejuvenates them. Interesting, isn’t it? One fine day, when Yellow foolishly releases a pair of her owners’ unfinished drawings – the monstrous mute King Scrawl and his sidekick Gnat, they follow her into the color city and proceed to hog all the color in the city for themselves. So, yellow sets out with her five friends to save the day and during this journey learn about friendship, compassion and self-confidence. Will they be successful in their mission?
The Hero of Color City is a film which would lead the parents to doze off and maybe the kids too. The movie is produced by John D Eraklis.
The characters have been voiced by very talented actors. They have made a great impact on their young viewers.
1. The animation is pretty.
2. The characters are different.
3. The storyline is very interesting, and the kids have given a great response.
4. Audio and visual effects in the film are appreciable.
What’s not there?
1. The duration of the film is too long.
2. The scripting could have been more interesting and not elongated.
3. The background score is too weak.
4. The editing and direction of the film seemed very naïve.
It is a children’s film and will be enjoyed by them. The parents, however, will be fed up because of the duration and may doze off.
