The new adventures of Aladdin is a French comedy film with English subtitles. The story is a new take on the adventure folklore we all heard in our childhood with a rather raunchy twist to it. The movie does not do justice to the retelling at all and requires parental guidance. Arthur Benzaquen has directed this flick.

Plot

The story of The New Adventures of Aladdin is pretty simple. It’s more of a children’s comedy with some sex subplots and sheer stupidity. The story begins with Sam ( Kev Adams Kev Adams is a French actor. He is also a screenwr >> Read More... ) lying to his wife of being a stockbroker when he plays Santa Claus in a mall with his friend Khaled. Always being broke, the two of them steal whatever they can from the mall. It's Christmas Eve, and Sam and Khaled decide to steal as usual, but they are derailed as Sam is dragged into a room to narrate stories to children. So, Sam starts retelling the adventures of Aladdin by incorporating real-life characters into the story. What comes as an outcome is a rather raunchy movie with a horny genie, a gay magician, Cameltoe, a eunuch and an antagonist whose nickname is “Floppy disk” who’s suffering from erectile dysfunction. The children enjoy the story, but to Sam’s dismay his wife finds out his not a stockbroker but is working in a mall. Sam must now prove to his wife that he’s still a good person.

Analysis

The new adventures of Aladdin is a film full of obscenity and are raunchy. The retelling has nothing more to it than the sexual deprivation and other sexual aspects. The movie could do without the pretense of a Christmas Eve; it just seems like a tactic to attract more viewers. The movie is lost due to translation in English( It’s a French movie). The retelling of Aladdin with a horny genie, a gay magician, a eunuch and an antagonist named Floppy disk is just disturbing. The character portrayals are good and seem convincing. The direction is fair and the screenplays are also good. The dialogues may seem offensive to some while some might enjoy. The movie is nowhere meant for children. Yes, it might be funny to some though that is the intention of makers.

Star Performances

Kev Adams who plays the lead actor in the movie Sam, is the only driving force of the movie. The movie is all about him, and he is what makes the movie bearable. William Lebghil who plays Khaled is also funny. The rest of the star cast is pretty bearable. The screenplay keeps you hoping for some miracle to happen and make the story better but sadly that does not happen.

What’s there?

If you happen to like light-hearted movies with a below-the-belt touch to it, you can watch this movie. If you’re a Kev Adams fan you should watch it. Otherwise, you can skip this one.

What’s not there?

The movie is obscene and does not adhere to the topic at hand. The story is nothing new or interesting. There are certain dialogues and scenes that may offend some.

Verdict

To sum it all up, the new adventures of Aladdin is a poorly-witted retelling with a raunchy or gross feel to it.
