Plot

Teenager Natasha Kingsley is fiercely fighting against the deportation of her family to Jamaica. Hopeless romantic Daniel Bae is preparing for an interview at Dartmouth. Both bear a burden of problems on their shoulders. What happens when fate brings these two strangers together? Daniel bets Natasha that he can make her fall in love with him in one day. But with Natasha and her family bound to leave America very soon, their romance feels like a race against the clock. The Sun Is Also a Star is a beautiful story about fate and destiny.

Yara Shahidi and Charles Melton show satisfactory performances. The chemistry between them is good.

Analysis

The movie is visually stunning, and the music will get you in your feels. However, it can get quite dull as the storyline becomes very unrealistic. The romance between the characters grows increasingly sad as we know it will not last. The movie is a loose adaptation of the book since many storylines about the side characters were omitted. However, if you prefer practical love stories, this one is not for you.
