CAST & CREW
‘ Transcendence', the movie, was released in 2014. It is a pure fiction, and cinematographer Wally Pfister is the director of the movie. It is a story woven by Jack Paglen. The flick stars Cillian Murphy, Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Cole Hauser, Cillian Murphy and Morgan Freeman. The executive producer of the movie is Christopher Nolan, who is usually seen collaborating with Pfister.
At a particular juncture, the plots by Paglen were well-known but the screenplays were left unproduced in Hollywood. There were criticisms about the way the plot was woven, characters in it, and the dialogue. Debutant director Wally Pfister is seen as a cinematographer in most of Christopher Nolan’s movies. This has been the case very since the movie ‘Memento Days’. The story of ‘Transcendence’ revolves around the characters done by Depp and Rebecca Hall.
Depp and Rebecca do characters of Will and Evelyn Caster, who are husband and wife. They are professionals in the field of artificial intelligence. They come to a conclusion to transfer the patterns followed by Will’s brain to a computer that needs to be given a second thought. There is a sudden twist in the movie, as a bullet fired by a prankster hits Will. It is blended with a dangerous radioactive isotope, and he becomes terminally ill. The procedure of transferring brain patterns was successful with a monkey.
But, a neurobiologist warns that the procedure may not be successful with humans. Rest of the movie has Depp looking like a robot. But, he fails to impress audiences, as his presence bears no impact in the movie. Depp’s mission is to spread the power of his processor throughout the world. At a point, Rebecca Hall is aghast as Depp orders the code that he is running on. She is indeed a shrewd actress but has not been utilized properly in the movie.
