Plot

There is a murder of an employee working in a pharmaceutical factory. His son, Veeru, becomes a police officer to avenge his father's false implication and death.

Star Performance

Khesari Lal Yadav, in Veeru’s character, has bombarded the screen with his action-packed kicks and punches. Akanksha Awasthi landed her role exquisitely. The supporting cast Sanjay Pandey, Deepika Tripathi, Anoop Arora, Samarth Chaturvedi, CP Bhatt, Jayashankat Pandey, Vineet Vishal and others did well in curving out the story. Amitabh Chandra and Ravindranath Guru did the cinematography excellently. The rigorous kicks and punches came out as noteworthy highlights of the movie.

Analysis

The movie’s storyline is simple, which shows that it resides mainly on fulfilling the entertainment factor. Nevertheless, it does not fail to capture several patriarchal approaches conceived from the writing and rendering of women's and men's characters. The presence of the female protagonist depicts nothing more than eye candy. The absence of any offscreen women is another sad reality that should not get overlooked. Either, they are puppets in the hands of patriarchal male writers or not present at all. Other women characters are used to gloss over the masculine ideology of the hero. He is often shown as the macho police officer who represents the people. In the comical tropes, the hero’s transition from a good-hearted person

to a raged one is done to uplift the story's hero. Meaningless acts of violence take up most of the time. There lies no difference between authorities mercilessly inflicting torture on people and an average man riding up the power ladder. He does the same in the name of revenge. The notion of normalizing these problematic aspects happens due to the presence of these movies. Here, the role of writers, directors, and the whole crew becomes of utmost importance.

Moreover, the grasping editing vividly structured the film. All the action scenes received clear exemplification because of this. It beautifully linearly held the movie. There was not much character development other than Veer’s. At points, the unnecessary inclusion of songs enhanced the film's length. It made the film feel slower at times but not too monotonous. Despite these problematic concepts, Dhananjay Mishra deserves applause for winning Best Music Director at Bhojpuri Cine Awards 2019 in Kolkata.
