Drona was declared a box office disaster. With a budget of 60 crores, the production spent over 12 crores only to achieve special effect with perfect quality. The VFX team, containing a crew of over 250 artists, animators, designers, painters and developers collaborating with EyeQube Studios, worked on the film for six months.

Plot:

The film is about Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan) who has a Harry Potter like childhood; neglected and orphaned. Drona then follows his adventure of self-discovery and honor on the path to rescue his mother and stop the villain along with Sonia ( Priyanka Chopra Born on 18 July 1982, Priyanka Chopra is an establ >> Read More... ). The film centers on themes of good vs. evil, with recurring themes of magic and mythology. With locations in Namibia, Prague, Rajasthan, Bikaner and Maharashtra, the film has beautiful desert landscapes and urban sets.

Also featuring Indian martial arts, such as Kalaripayattu, Chhau, Gatka, and sword fighting. With the poor storyline, the movie seems to move like a children’s fantasy books with the protagonist faced with obstacles at every stage. Though written to be a superhero film, Drona’s super-powers doesn’t seem to be more than throwing punches and sword fighting, none of it lasting to impress.

Considering Abhishek Bachchan’s acting amidst all this, it makes it tormenting to bear through the film as he carries the same expression and repeats the same mantra of honor and duty leading to annoyance. With so much screen space for Abhishek Bachchan, the other actors were lost in the spaces between with little to do.

Kay Kay Menon’s struggle to be a villain like the joker from the Dark Knight series only came out to look like a clown, who would not be despised as a villain but as an actor in this film. Certainly a great actor at his worst role. Abhishek Bachchan in no way suits the role of a superhero with his physique and body language. Though Priyanka Chopra is seen giving her best with what her character demands.

Verdict:

The film is stretched, and the VFX is a waste, calling this film one of the worst in Bollywood is certainly justified.
