Plot

Farrey focuses on the life of a child prodigy, Niyati Singh. Niyati is an orphan, who has been the topmost student all her life. Due to her exceptional performance, she is offered admission into India’s most elitist school for her higher education. This movie follows her journey as she tries to cope with the changes in her new life and the struggles she faces.

In this school, she befriends a rich kid named Chavvi, who is quite weak at studies. Niyati helps her cheat in examinations with smart tactics that go unnoticed by everyone. Soon, Niyati and Aakash, another bright student, are helping the entire class crack their papers using unethical methods. The national exams are around the corner that promises a bright future for all of them and all the students are leaning on Niyati. Will Niyati’s trick work this time or will she be outsmarted and face the consequences?

This thriller brings answers to all these questions.

Star Performances

Farrey is a movie that brings many fresh faces and new talents to the screen. One of the best performances was of the lead actress Alizeh Agnihotri. As a debutant actress, her acting was better than many new faces and charmed the audience. Her portrayal of Niyati, an underprivileged kid, who suddenly enters the world of extravagance, is appealing and accurate. She deserves all the accolades and holds the capacity to alter the course of the industry.

Analysis

Farrey explores the trope of high school struggles like no other movie ever has. It is a balance of teenage drama, romance, and friendship. It also shows the contrast between the world of privileged and poor children. With all the fresh faces on the screen, this movie neared perfection and faltered very little.

As an individual piece, the execution of the plot is well-structured and the screenplay is devised meticulously to keep the audience engaged. The unique storyline to an already explored trope is appreciated and brings a fresh change for the viewers. There was a scope for improvement when it came to building all the characters. The screen time for the side roles could have been increased to focus on their journeys.

• The climax scene could have been executed better.

• The story is too focused on the protagonist’s development and thus neglects the growth of other characters.

Verdict

Farrey is a suspense-filled thriller that dwells on struggles faced by students of different societal statuses. It is a fun watch and leaves the viewers wanting more of it. Just like every good film, this piece comes with its flaws. These errors are minute and don’t ruin the essence of this movie entirely. All in all, Farrey would make up for an interesting one-time watch.
