Plot: Firaaq tells six different stories, in the aftermath of the Gujrat riots. About a home maker who closes the door, to women who wants a shelter after the riots desperately. Of two best friends whose loyalty is tested in this time of lies and fears. A gang of youngsters who are angry and seeking revenge, a modern day couple where one is Hindu and the other is Muslim and the struggle they face, by keeping their identities hidden. A boy having lost his family searches the road for a missing father. A Muslim hangs on to his ultimate ideologies and faith until something shakes it. What happens in the life of these people? How do the aftermath of riots affect them?

The first scene itself where the dead bodies are emptied from the truck as if they are garbage takes your attention to the screen and keeps it there. Ravi Chandran's cinematography captures the mood, oh so perfectly! The dialogues give the much-needed punch to the story.

Star Performance: The actors chosen for every role are perfect. They take the story to new heights and make us experience each and every pain they are going through. What Is There? :

1. A thought provoking story line, which will make you think through all the decisions the characters make.

2. The angst experienced by characters will pull you in, and before you know it you are in deep.

3. The cinematography is wonderfully done and is right for the mood of the movie.

What Is Not There? :

1. The pacing drags a lot; few more cuts could be made.

2. The main problem here is the transition between the stories, which is not smooth at all, and disrupts the flow of the movie.

Verdict: Firaaq is a movie which is as disturbing as it is powerful. It is as nerve wrecking as it is beautiful. It will make you think. It will make you ask questions. It is for anyone who wants to go behind the stereotype movies and watch something which is very real.
