Plot

The film’s protagonist is Rana Daggubati as Sumitranandan, but is fondly called Bandev(Lord of the forest) by others because he has planted more than 100,000 trees. The film follows Bandev’s journey as he fights against the environment minister’s grand plan to convert the forest area into a 50 hectare township. As soon as contractors and construction crew enter the forest with the intention of harming the flora and fauna, Bandev swings into action to protect his forest. Bandev has spent his entire life in the lap of nature, and views the flora and fauna with utmost respect and has thus taken it upon himself to be the forest’s protector.

Star Performance

Rana Daggubati shines the brightest among the other stars of the film in his role as Bandev. His build and physique are perfect for playing the rugged forest man fighting to save his forest from destruction. He delivers his lines with growls and roars fitting a feral protector.

Analysis

The movie delivers a strong message of the importance of environmental protection and conservation, and that development should not be achieved at the cost of environmental damage. The film introduces a plethora of characters who aid Bandev in his mission to protect the forest but their roles are left unresolved to focus on the plotline.

Verdict

The film is a beautiful cinematic piece highlighting the importance of forests and how the government and others in position of power are willing to achieve development at the cost of irreversible environmental harm. Rana Daggubati delivers a stellar performance. The film would make for a great watch for action, thriller and environment enthusiasts.
