Plot

The movie is set around Lal Sarkar. Lal Sarkar is a showcase of the leftist front rule that was prevailing in Tripura because of a certain political group. The movie is directed by Abhijit Ashok paul and produced by Susheel Sharman. The movie, released in the first week of February, revolves around a tv journalist who is on a trip to Tripura from his home state of West Bengal. The journalist is in Tripura to assess and evaluate the reality of the development model in Tripura. The movie, as told by the producer of the film, will feature the realities of the left-front rule in Tripura, like the corruption scenario, the level of unemployment, and the horrendous crimes against women and poor people. The movie was heavily promoted but was equally under the radar of scrutiny and scandals. The movie was criticised for having connections with the Bhartiya Janta party but the director of the movie as well as BJP spokesperson have confirmed that the movie is purely an individual project. People even went on to say that this movie is a direct attack on the chief minister, Manik Sarkar.

Star Performance

A scandalous performance by the actors when they are provided with such a script. The characters are justifiably portrayed by the actors but that fierceness was heavily lacking throughout the movie.

Analysis

The movie is surely a complex one. While the characters lack depth and the fierceness it requires to act out such a heavy plot, with violence shown without censor, The cinematography is nothing impressive and the dialogues are not iconic enough. In short, nothing makes this movie a memorable one, except for the fact that it is trying to bring light to the condition in Tripura. The movie is dark and violent scenes are shown without any warning, be it rape or murder or suicide, this can be very disturbing for many viewers.  If only there was anything meaningful about this movie apart from just the intention to show the realities, this movie would have lived up to all the hype.

What’s There

  • An intention to bring light to the truth

What’s Not There

  • No good storyline and the lack of good acting almost makes this a very boring movie and one will not watch it if they have anything else to watch.

Verdict

The movie was not worth it and I certainly would not suggest it personally. The movie surrounds scandal and criticism and was publicly scrutinised for a dark portrayal of politics and political parties and for being biased.
