Plot

Akki, a teenager who aspires to make it big in cinema, struggles with his pal Salman. They have their gang, who share almost the same dreams. Unfortunately, one of them, Nimmo, ends up dead. Will they be able to cope with the tragedy, as well as understand who could be behind her death?

Star Performances

If the film is even remotely watchable, credit goes to the supporting cast, especially the likes of Vrajesh Hirjee and the bunch of teenagers.

Analysis

'Nimmo Lucknow Wali' has a simple but crucial message. Over-dependency on mobile phones and the need to be socially relevant on social media is a double-edged sword. As per the makers, parents must see to it that dependency on mobile and excessive usage of the same by teenagers should be kept in check.

Not bad, right? Well, Junaid Ali had other ideas. The script is not bad at all to begin with. The execution, however, is a different story altogether.

Films centered around children or teenagers are a rare affair these days, especially in Indian cinema. The least that Junaid could have done was to make an engaging film, and he failed to deliver on this aspect. The narrative goes haywire in places, and some of the sequences, which were meant to make audiences emotional, end up being unintentionally funny.

The camerawork may not be dismal, but the editing is. Despite the movie being less than 2 hours long, it feels repetitive and sometimes even bland. Most of the performances are just okay, nothing being remarkably special. Except for Vrijesh Hirjee and the bunch of teenagers to some extent, none of the acting performances are very remarkable.

Instead of being a remarkable experience like the 2011 flick 'Chillar Party, ‘Nimmo Lucknow Waali turns out to be another run-of-the-mill drama.

'Nimmo Lucknow Waali' is one movie that could have fulfilled the void in children-oriented films. Sadly, the execution, as well as the narrating techniques prevented it from being one. You can still watch it for some mindless fun.
