Plot

When India was partitioned in the year 1947, Umber (Irfan Khan) moved to India with his wife Mehar ( Tisca Chopra Tisca Zareen Chopra (Nee Arora) is a talented and >> Read More... ) and three daughters. Umber feels very sad that he had no son to take up the family and decides to go for a last try of having a son. When the fourth child is born for them, Mehar identifies that it is a girl and suggests Umber to kill the child. But Umber denies and decides to grow up her like a guy. Naming him Kanwar, they grow up her like a male kid. On seeing Kanwar ( Tillotama Shome Tillotama Shome is an Indian actress who is known >> Read More... ) getting closer to his friend’s daughter Neeli (Rasika Duggal), he plans to marry Kanwar to Neeli. After getting married, Neeli comes to know that Kanwar is a girl and tries to escape from the home. At that time, Umber stops her and rapes Neeli to have a boy child. On seeing it, Kanwar shoots Umber and kills him. After the funeral of Umber, Kanwar and Neeli go to start a new life with a sisterly love not revealing the truth to others. When Kanwar goes to bring her mother to the new home, he finds their home burnt and knows that her mom and two sisters were dead. There Kanwar finds the reflection of her dad’s soul in the mirror. What does the soul do to them? Is the rest of the story.

Analysis

The movie has a fantastic screenplay and the cinematographer, Sebastian, has done a great job with the camera. The visuals took the audience back to 1947. The dialogues are delivered well, yet the storyline was a bit dramatic and was tough to accept by a particular set of audiences. Tillotama Shome has also delivered a fantastic body language which was amazing and got many appreciations from many people.

1) Nice screenplay.

3) A great work with the camera and lightings.

4) Nice dialogues.

What’s not there?

1) The storyline is a bit unbelievable.
