Umrao Jaan, which is three decades old movie, is still loved with immense love and respect. So, Muzaffar Ali is back again with a dance based movie named Raqs- The Dance Within after 20 years of his last stint. The previous movie i.e. Umrao Jaan was based on the 1857 revolt depicting the story of the courtesan. This film is also based on the life of a dancer. It is shot in Lucknow and also at Kotwara. Raqs is set in 1877, the director and his wife Meera has designed the look for the flick and shot this at his own house.

The choreography is done by Pandit Birju Maharaj, who has worked in Devdas and Dedh Ishqiya. The director says that nowadays any film crosses 100 crore club, and the people who after watching the movie says it’s not even worth a single cinema watch and still the movie does a good business. And on the contrary, there are real good movies which run for long but doesn’t earn that it is worth of. Pernia Qureshi, who happens to be Sonam Kapoor's stylist, is roped in to don the role of the lead actress. The director needed a good dancer, and she did a great job.

Imran Abbas, who is already a heartthrob at Pakistan, has worked his first film with Bipasha (Creature 3D). The Director’s father believe that the young minds must know about the past struggles. Watch this space for more info!
