CAST & CREW
A film that is just too plain... is Wedding Pullav for you. For those who may not know, Binod Pradhan, who is an ace cinematographer, has directed this film. He had in fact worked behind the scenes for films such as Rang De Basanti and Parinda.
When two couples Diganth Manchale and Sonalli Sehgall, and Anushka Ranjan (she is a newbie) and Karan Grover are to get married, it dawns on Diganth and Anushka, friends since childhood, that they are made for each other. Is this love crime? Well, our filmmaker maintains the suspense of Diganth’s and Anushka’s love till the end. And here comes the role of the love guru Rishi Kapoor. He scents the two “culprits’” love for each other. What happens finally? Watch the movie to find out.
Rishi Kapoor, who is indeed an excellent actor, is pitiably wasted in this film. He shuttles between a good resort owner and a not-so-experienced romance guru. Anushka should work on her acting skills to a great extent. The film also has the predictable characters of a cool grandmother and foster mom.
The film's plot seems fragile. Gopal Shah, the cinematographer, is not as good as Binod Pradhan. The emotions of the character don’t seem to linger in your mind. The film exaggerates various things, and that might irritate the audience. The music by Salim-Sulaiman is the main strength of the movie, it is quite ok.
A Punjabi marriage format... That is this movie for you. It will inevitably remind one of the flicks such as My Best Friend’s Wedding and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
The film could have been more content-driven. For films of such nature, one should empathize with the characters, which is strongly lacking for this flick. Somewhere there is void in this flick.
This Pullav surely needs more spice... for those who are ok only with the salt then this film is excellent.
