Enchanting the audience with a mass thriller, debutant Anup Revanna Anoop Revana, a Kannada actor who is quickly makin >> Read More... performs the role of Lakshmana just satisfactorily. While, Meghana Sundar plays Anjali to stunning perfection. It’s a stereotypical action thriller story, with not many contemporary or modern elements, stuck in a bygone era.

Plot: A conflict between the antagonist Pradeep Rawat Pradeep Rawat, is known for his villainous roles i >> Read More... and Lakshmana’s father leads to Pradeep killing all of Lakshmana’s family except Lakshmana. Lakshmana’s father, Ravichandran is a committed ACP, favoring the truth and doing right by society.Ravichandran, the ACP takes care of miscreants, who are led by Desai are involved in illegal activity. Desai threatens to harm Ravichandran’s family while he is in jail, and this is the point in the film from which the action and drama start.

Due to the conflict between Pradeep Rawat and Lakshmana's father, he eliminates the complete family. Everyone is killed in that incident except Meghana Raj Meghana, whose full name is Meghana Raj, is an Ind >> Read More... , Lakshmana and Suchendra Prasad Suchendra Prasad, the name very common to the thea >> Read More... , their uncle. Lakshmana, a young boy then, is adopted into another family, and Meghana Raj lives with her uncle, with both of them unaware of the other’s survival. How Meghana and Lakshmana join forces and take down Pradeep is the rest of the plot!

Analysis: Based on the decade-old script of the Telugu film Athanokkade, the film, Lakshmana has an old, stereotypical script that is no longer interesting or pertinent to this generation of movie-watchers. Loud, seemingly unnecessary punchlines, dragged emotional scenes and bombastic scenes make the movie seem crass and ancient, leading to an unnecessarily long runtime, that requires a lot of patience to sit through. V Ravichandran has an over-hyped cameo and doesn’t impress.

Excessive violence and bloodshed in the film, have also earned the Kannada flick an ‘A’ rating from the Film Board. At a time when youngsters are discarding the hackneyed tropes for more contemporary and experimental stories, it is worrisome that so much has been spent on an unimpressive story that movie watchers no longer want to watch.

Star Performances: Debutant Anup Revanna, the protagonist, does an okay job of portraying the role assigned to him. Though there was not much scope in the script, he shows promise. Meghana Devi, on the other hand, performs stunningly and shows us why she is one of the top coveted actresses in the Kannada Film Industry. The over-hyped cameo of V Ravichandran does justice to the part but is really not a highlight of the film. With meaty roles for the protagonist, unfortunately, not enough on-screen time was allocated for the rest of the actors.

What’s there?

1.Intense action scenes, with real-life like blood and visuals, will engross movie-watchers who are interested in the genre.

2. Die-hard fans of the traditional movie watching groups will fall in love with the punchlines and performers.

What’s not there?

1. Modern Take on any part of the film is entirely missing, stuck in a bygone era.

2.The extremely predictable storyline is a big loophole in the plot. You can almost guess the lines.

3. The movie could have been much shorter and precise, and would have made for a much more pleasurable watch!

Verdict: Based on a classic, if you’re the type to enjoy Traditional action-thriller film, then this movie is definitely for you. Else, you should give it a miss!
