Plot

Vanilla is about childhood friends Avinash and Swati (Anagha), who separate when they are children. After a separation of more than ten years, Avinash meets Anagha. While their friendship appears to pick up where it left off after Anagha moved away, they fall into a mysterious situation. Anagha is discovered on a bridge looking at a dead man whom she may or may not have killed the day after Avinash first sees her, and they make plans to meet again.

Anagha has a rare condition, which Avinash discovers. Cacknophobia, an allergy to smoke and shock, is the cause. Avinash is assured that Anagha is not responsible for the crime. The cops are finding Avinash. A drug mafia is responsible for Anagha's terrible situation. Anagha's brother Pandu (Rehaman) has found the Acetal ingredients in the popular Vanilla cigarette. Now, Anagha is missing.

Avinash decides to resolve the situation on his own and seeks out Swati. Will Avinash find her? How this mystery will be solved?

Star Performance

Avinash proves to be an asset on his debut. Avinash is well qualified to advance in his cinematic career. Swathi Konde also gave an excellent performance in her debut film. Ravishanker Gowda, Rehaman, Pavan, and Giri also did everything required.

Analysis

The title may cause the audience to think of Cameron Crowe's science fiction psychological thriller Vanilla Sky from Hollywood. However, Vanilla is not the same as Vanilla Sky.

The social problem of drug addiction is mentioned in Vanilla, but it is turned into a murder mystery. The idea of capnophobia (fear of smoke and smoking) gives Vanilla a new perspective. In the movie Vanilla, director Jayathirtha deviates from his usual style of films from the Olave Mandhara period and combines thrilling elements with social concern.

What’s There?

Verdict

Film Vanilla is for both adults and children. You can watch it easily without any boredom. Visit the theatre to solve the Vanilla mystery if you feel like you are a detective.
