The tagline of a film reveals more about it. The tagline of Pathemari talks about the route to survival by Malayalis who are in Gulf. And after watching this movie, I am somehow touched by its sheer realism.
Plot
The story is quite simple and can be told in a word. it is the story of Keralite immigrants. But Malayalam cinema has always succeeded in walking the tight rope of showcasing the subtle aspects of life in a genuine manner. Pallickal Narayanan, who shifted to the Middle East during the 80s, is the main character of the movie. The movie revolves around his life which is set in three different phases; the movie sees the life of Narayanan from 1960s to till now.
Star Performances
Mammootty is an exemplary actor and he has shown his acting prowess time and again. This film too is a jewel in his crown. When you watch certain sentimental scenes you will surely connect with his character. Jewel Mary, Srinivasan and the rest of the cast too have done their best.
Analysis
The trailer created quite a huge expectation on this movie and the flick really lives to that. The movie is based on real life, which is alluring. The direction of Salim Ahmed is a great strength to the film. National award winner Bijibai has come out with exceptional BGM. On the whole, the technical aspects of this movie are spectacular.
There are many families, who make great efforts to support their families. This film beautifully highlights this aspect. The Malayalam film industry is surely rocking now with good films and Pathemari lis one such film. Also, this is one film, which witnesses the best-touched subject of Mollywood: realism.
Verdict
Mammootty’s fans will surely have a treat watching this movie. For those who are interested in social drama too, this is an apt choice.
