Plot

The film is about four friends: Kathappan (Sanmayanandan), Kidu ( Levin Simon Joseph Levin Simon Joseph is a Malayalam film actor. He s >> Read More... ), Saamy (Rony Raj), and Paraganan (Jensen Jose). They work as painters. All four of them are very lazy and drink large quantities of alcohol every day. The film’s first half is full of their ridiculous activities and alcohol drinking mixed with their lame jokes, which would rarely make anyone laugh. While doing their painting job in a house belonging to Saamy’s relative, they meet a retired army man named Sugunan, who has just moved into that house with his family. He encourages all four boys to start a business.

He gives them a tempo, which they call Pettilambatra, and tells them to connect with a fish market agent, Ramettan (Indrans). The boys start selling fish and earn a good amount of money. One day, when all of them were having their alcohol session, Ramettan requested them to help him fight some local gangsters who were harassing and troubling his daughter.

Kidu, one of the boys in the group, fumes with anger. He asks his friend to deal with the gangsters and teach them an unforgettable lesson. They beat up the gangsters and returned home. The next day, they get to know that all of them have been found dead, and the cops are in search of the criminals. Will the police hold the four friends responsible for this murder? Did they commit this crime? If not, then who did? Do Ramettan and Sugunan have any connection with this murder?

Star Performance

Levin Simon Joseph’s performance is the most impressive. He makes the film very entertaining. His dialogue delivery and acting style make everyone laugh. Sanmayanandan, Rony Raj, and Jensen Jose executed their roles perfectly. Sugunan, Ramettan, and all the other cast did everything required.

Analysis

In the 1980s and 1990s, there were many films, some of which were hits, while others had multiple plots that failed. Still, they were highly watchable because of the performances. Pettilambatra falls into the same class.

There are some perfect scenes in the film, specifically the opening chase scene and the drinking sessions of the four friends. If written by a more perfect writer, this film could have been outstanding.

Verdict

Film Pettilambattra dialogues are full of double meaning. There are some scenes that show hatred or prejudice against women, which makes the film very negative. Only the comedy of the actors makes the film entertaining. If you have time, you can watch this movie once.
