Plot: The story starts when Kinder comes to Kerala to find his missing lover. Joy, a friend of Kinder, helps him in this search. Just when Kinder is facing a financial crisis, he meets Sharon. Sharon is also seeking her missing boyfriend and promises to offer money to Kinder if in return he helps her in her search. These 3 are joined by Milton, cousin of Sharon. Then they start their journey. Their journey, problems in the journey and the end destination is what the plot is all about.
Analysis: Aneesh Upasana has 2 good films in her bag, and this one is his 3rd project. But this time, all the cards didn't go his way. The script lets us down as many loopholes could be felt throughout the flick. It was claimed that it would be an entertainer with great comedy, but it fails to live up to our expectations. The screenplay is also below par. Although music and acting performances in the movie are great, much more was expected from Aneesh Upasana. Casting director has worked hard to decide the cast of 'Popcorn.' All the actors seem to be tailor made for their respective roles.
Star Performances: Acting performances is one of the major pluses for the film. Almost all the actors have carried their roles. But the main character which stole limelight is Soubin Shahir. He is funny and makes us laugh with his gags. Roles of Kinder and Joy played by Shine Tom Chacko and Bagath Manuel respectively also did justice to their role. No over acting or poor acting was felt throughout the film. Srinda, Johny, Anjali, Indrans are few supporting actors, but they also have made an attempt to leave a positive impact on the audience.
1. The storyline is new, and you'll fall in love with the plot.
2. The director Aneesh has an experience of 2 good movies which is clearly visible here.
3. Editing and Music are outstanding and would be loved by the audience.
What's not there?
1. The trailers promised decent humor but in reality, the film lets us down.
2. The tone of the flick is quite serious, especially in the first half.
3. Poor Screenplay adds to the casualties.
4. The movie lacks connectivity and is good only in bits.
Verdict: If you want to enjoy few gags, and some remarkable acting performances only then choose 'Popcorn' as your weekend entertainer else, the movie doesn't offer something exceptional to attract the audience.
