“Idly” is a comedy entertainer scripted by Babu Thooyavan and RK Vidhyadharan. Vidhyadharan directed the film. The film has the star cast of Saranya Ponvannan, Kovai Sarala and late “ Kalpana” in the lead roles. “ Manobala,” Mansoor Ali Khan, Imman Annachi, Anu Krishna, Venniradai Moorthy, Devadharshini Chetan, Lollu Sabha “ Swaminathan,” “ Pandu,” Chithra Lakshmanan and Asmitha are in the supporting roles. Bharani Kannan cranked the camera and Meenakshi Sundaram is the editor. “Hari KK” composed the music. Babu Thooyavan produced the film under Appu Movies banner.
Plot
Inba, Twinkle and Lilly are close friends. After Inba’s daughter and son-in-law died in an accident, she is the only relation for Ashmitha, her granddaughter. She raises her with struggle. The problem arises when the teenager suffers from some health issues. The doctors say that she should be operated and it needs Rs. 6 lakhs. So, the three grannies managed somehow to collect Rs. 6 lakhs. But, before depositing it to the bank, the bank robbers rob it from them. So, the bank manager said that he couldn’t help on this. So, the three of them decide to loot the money from the bank, where they lost their hardly collected money. With the help of China, Twinkle’s lover, they disguised as robbers and go to the bank. At that time, the police cover up the bank. Did the trio escape from the police? Watch it in theaters!
Star Performance
Saranya, who had been playing the mother to the heroes and heroines, plays the granny to a teenager in Idly. Although the stars played their role perfectly, their talent is not used well.
Analysis
The story looks impressive while hearing. But, the director didn’t make it well. The talents of the lead stars seem to be underrated. The screenplay should have been better and the execution too. The cast selection is good with a lot of talented comedy stars, who are appreciated by the audiences.

On the whole, the comedy Galatta of the grannies doesn’t impress much. Yet, the film is a onetime watch.
