Plot
Mahadevan is a leading actor who was brought from rags to riches by Ayya. When Ayya and Mahadevan had a word war over ego clashes, their relationship was put in trouble. Kumari is introduced by Ayya, and he plans to get back his lost fame by making a film with her. Mahadevan, who is already married, falls for Kumari. When their lives are entangled, a crime occurs. Phoenix investigates the crime. Who is the criminal? Who is the victim? Was Ayya’s movie released? The rest of the story follows this.
Star Performance
Dulquer shouldered the entire movie with his commendable performance. Right from the intro scene, he excels with his natural performance. Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri are fantastic in their roles. Samuthirakani’s varied expressions are one of the biggest pluses in his performance. Despite playing a normal cop, Rana’s performance and style are unmatchable. Gayathrie, Bucks, Vaiyapuri, and Nizhalgal Ravi appear for a short time on screen, but they grabbed the attention.
Analysis
The film speaks about a star who once stayed at the top. The ego clashes, vengeance, anger, and many other habits that are found common in everyone are exposed by the characters in Kaantha. The director should be given a pat for making interesting sequences, despite the slow-paced screenplay. The dialogues are fine, and the way the stars delivered them is impressive. Rana and Samuthirakani’s roles are written well. The BGM gels well with the sequences. The songs are quite decent. The art department should’ve done a huge workout to make the film look like the 1950s. The set properties are carefully designed to make it appear a period drama of 70 years old.
