Maayavan” is the science fiction, crime thriller flick written by “C. V. Kumar.” The screenplay is by Nalan Kumarasamy. CV Kumar makes his debut as a director through this film. Besides directing, he produced the film. Gnanavel Raja and Abinesh Elangovan distributed the film. Sundeep Kishan plays the lead role and Lavanya Tripathi plays the female lead. Bollywood star Jackie Shroff plays a pivotal role in the movie. “ V Jayaprakash,” Daniel Balaji, Bagavathi Perumal, Akshara Gowda, “K S Ravi Kumar” and Mime Gopi are in the cast. The music is by Mohamaad Ghibran. Gopi Amarnath cranked the camera and Leo John Paul is the editor. The movie is dubbed in Telugu as Project Z.

Plot

Kumaran is a sincere crime investigating police officer, who is appointed to find out the series of cold-blooded murders in the city. Soon after entering into the case, Kumaran finds out that all the crimes are done in a similar pattern. It is a tough challenge for him to find out the culprit. Did Kumaran find out the murderer? What are the challenges he faces? Watch the film on the silver screen.

Star Performance

Sundeep has given a rocking performance. After “ Maanagaram,” he has got a meaty role to do. Lavanya Tripathi makes her debut as a psychiatrist. Although she performs well, her lip-synch doesn’t match. All the others stars including Jackie and Daniel Balaji had done their role neatly.

Analysis

As a director, CV Kumar has succeeded in his first attempt. His script and Nalan’s screenplay are good. However, the screenplay takes the right pace only in the second half. This film would be a memorable debut for CV Kumar and a milestone in the career of Sundeep.

What’s There?

  • Performances of the stars are superb
  • Action sequences are beautifully dealt
  • Cinematography, editing and the BGM are perfect

What’s Not There?

  • Lavanya’s lip-synch is not impressive
  • First half is a bit slow

Verdict

Sundeep Kishan’s performance, Nalan Kumarasamy’s screenplay and CV Kumar’s direction are the real treat to the audiences. The thrilling moments in the second half keep the audiences glued to their seats. Maayavan… Worth watching!
