Murugavel is a thriller flick which is directed by famous Mollywood director Joshiy. It is a the dubbed version of the Malayalam flick Lailaa O Lailaa starring Mohanlal, Sathyaraj and Amala Paul in lead roles. Now let’s see how the movie has turned out to be.

The movie attempts to bring forth the unrest that an undercover agent Mohan Lal has to undergo in his life. He has to show himself as an executive in an export company to his newly married wife Amala Paul. Though he does several heroic deeds in life he shows himself as a layman to his wife. But he also takes care that the culprits learn a lesson or two. Star Peformances Though the execution plays spoilsport Mohanlal is at his usual best in his role. Amala Paul looks good in the movie and she does quite a good job. Sathyaraj is seen bald-headed in the movie and doesn’t disappoint us. For those who think that he is a villain in the movie they are in for a surprise. Ramya Nambeesan appears only in one scene in the movie.

The movie is being inspired by many commercial films and one gets a feeling that the director could have worked on the storyline in a better manner.

What’s there?

• Lokanathan’s cinematography is commendable.

• Action is one department in the movie that is satisfactory.

What’s not there?

• The movie is filled with lot of clichés.

• The character of Mohanlal could have been etched in an astute manner.

• More attention could have been given to comedy.

The casting of the movie is its major highlight. However, this dubbed version works only in bits and pieces.
