Plot

Sethupathi kickstarts with a cop who is burnt while he is still alive. This enrages Sethupathi, a righteous cop and he is bent on teaching a lesson or two to the baddie. But as fate would have it Sethupathi’s image is taken a toll due to an accident. How Sethupathi goes on to prove himself forms the rest of the story. 

Star Performances

Vijay Sethupathi gets into the skin of his character of a tough cop; he essays the role of a cop with both intelligence and muscular strength with great ease. Also, his dialogue delivery is near-perfect. Remya Nambeesan Remya Nambeesan is a chirpy young Indian actress, >> Read More... looks pretty and has done a neat job. The two children in the movie touch our hearts with their naivety, and they give a sprightly performance. Vela Ramamurthy does a commendable job as the villain. 

Analysis

We have seen such cops in Kollywood and are used to applauding them. But director S U Arunkumar, who has collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi in Pannayarum Padminiyum earlier, sees to it that he narrates the story in a convincing manner. And he has astutely exploited Vijay Sethupathi’s acting prowess. 

What’s there?

  • The characters in the movie are well-etched.
  • Music director Nivas K Prasanna’s music gels well with the tempo of the film.
  • Editing of Sreekar Prasad is par excellence. 
  • Though there are over-the-top stunt sequences, the director makes them convincing. 
  • Dinesh Krishnan’s cinematography is good. 
  • The movie progresses in a remarkable manner post interval. 

What’s not there?

We get nostalgic of seeing various films.

Watch the movie for Vijay Sethupathi’s power-packed performance and the director’s effort to reinforce that the police force also has a good side. Just enjoy the movie with your family.
