Plot: Vaalu is an out and out treat for STR’s (Simbu) fans. The star of the film is undoubtedly STR, who owns every frame of the camera and keeps romantic space with Hansika very well. His dialogue delivery is best, therefore he manages to do the job in a simple way. The film could be a treat in the eyes of fans for STR’s energetic presence and few love scenes that he has with Hansika. Hansika too balances her romance in a cute manner and the film is watchable as a good romantic action entertainer, which is balanced with emotions and comedy.
Sharp (STR) is a jobless youth, who doesn’t worry about his life. Sharp falls in love with Priya (Hansika). As love advances between them Priya confesses that, her father is willing to give her hand to maternal uncle Anbu (Aditya), a business man. It is a common formula in films that any obstacle in marriage is always won by the hero at last. How Sharp wins Priya’s love is the storyline. The film is also a must watch for Santhanam and STR comedy scenes. The duo acts in the comedy sequences well and tries to lift the film as entertainer to every extent. The chemistry between Santhanam and STR works well to the movie’s favour, with general doses of comedy.
Thaman’s music has some catchy numbers ‘You are my darling’ and ‘Love Endravan’ stands out with proper lyrics. Thaarumaaru number, where STR pays tribute to MGR, Rajinikanth and Ajith is really delightful to watch. Background music is also pulsating.
Cinematographer work is brilliant. The film runs for 2 hours and 34 minutes, but the editing aspect of the film could have made it a racy finish. The film is another ode to Vijay Chander working pattern, who has done the story, screenplay and direction part too, who inches further into the mainstream with this star-powered romantic drama.
