Plot

Anbu is a carom board player. He gets stuck unknowingly between two gangs in a fight. What happens to Anbu after he is dragged by the gangsters? Did he become a gangster? What happened to his family? Watch the exciting film in theaters!

Star Performance

We couldn’t see Dhanush in the film, but Anbu. Dhanush had done his role perfectly. He had just lived as the Vada Chennai boy. Ameer has got a meaty role to do and he had excelled in it. Samuthirakani, Aishwarya, Andrea, Balaji, Pawan and all the others fit in their role and emoted well.

Analysis

Vetrimaaran has brought a classic film based on Vada Chennai. The cast selection is wonderful and the characterization is awesome. All the stars are perfect in the characters played. The dialogues are the best part of the film. Vetrimaaran hadn’t cared about the language but had used the slang and the words as the Vada Chennai people use it and hence there are a few mutes in the dialogues. The narration is entirely different from his previous films and the intro scenes too. He had kept the audiences tied up to the seats. Action scenes are good. The cinematography and the editing are excellent. Art direction is fantastic and it receives appreciation from the critics and the audiences. The songs and the BGM by Santhosh Narayanan have no flaws. Minute details are taken care and the director should be definitely appreciated for this.

What’s There?

  • Performance of the stars is stunning
  • The dialogues are impressive and they represent Vada Chennai people
  • The screenplay and the narration are unique
  • BGM, cinematography and editing are excellent

What’s Not There?

  • A slight difference in the lip movements of certain artists looks odd; they had touched up the Vada Chennai slang in the dubbing
  • Some scenes are predictable

Verdict

Although Vada Chennai has a few flaws, it has all emotions including romance, sentiment, betrayal, anger and many more. After watching the film, we could hear a lot of people asking, when will they release the Vada Chennai sequel? Vada Chennai is definitely a one-time watch!
