The stellar cast of this movie includes Shyam Kumar as Ravi, playing the titular role, Pavani as Rati, Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, and Prabhakar Jaini. Other actors who contributed to this movie are Vijayalakshmi Jaini, Swati Naidu, and Monica.

Plot

Campus Ampasayya revolves around the life of Ravi, a struggling but hard-achieving student. The movie is based in the early 1970s and focuses on the plight of students during those times. Hailing from a small village in Hyderabad, Ravi gets the opportunity to study at Osmania University, one of the most prestigious names of those times. To others, he lives a dream life but struggles to cope with the problems life throws at him.

As he commences preparing for his final year examinations, things start going downhill. Suddenly nothing around him appeals to Ravi, he seems to be clinically depressed. As he and others around him try to comprehend his mental challenges, his examinations are nearing. He finds solace in the form of Rati who tries to support him as his emotions weigh him down. In those times, when depression was a taboo and not a prevalent term, how would Ravi react?

Will he be able to get past his current mindset?

Star Performances

Campus Ampasayya is a bold movie that tries to shed light on mental health issues in the best way possible. It showcases to viewers, Ravi, an emotionally challenged individual. The depiction of Ravi by Shyam Kumar is one of the best elements of this entire movie. His role required an emotion-packed intense delivery and Shyam was an accurate choice. He lived up to the complexity of his character and charmed the audience with his talent.

Analysis

Campus Ampasayya is an accurate adaptation of a famous novel based in the late 20th century. The readers of this novel were pleased with its depiction of the story from the novel. It maintained the essence of the book and also explored some untouched topics and that worked in its favor.

As an individual piece, this movie attempted to deliver a social message. Through its execution of a well-written plot and a structured storyline, this movie was a hit for the viewers. Also, the musical piece in between was appreciated as it kept the atmosphere light. One thing that could have been better was the development of the main characters. Rati deserved some more scenes for a better connection with the viewers.
