Plot

Ashok and Megha Shri, a couple, who are NRIs, stay in the US. It so happens that they come to Vizag along with their buddy Kiran Pattikonda to supervise some issues in their factory. They stay in a guest house. Being so, Ashok goes to the city with Megha Shri being left alone in the guest house. Well, by now, you would have guessed what follows. Yes, bad things start happening to Megha Shri in the bungalow. Why the evil forces attack Megha Shri? What hatred have they towards Megha Shri and her spouse Ashok? Does the couple brave this hurdle? Watch the movie to find out.

Star Performances

Ashok is quite at ease with his character while Megha Shri is ok. Kiran has done a commendable job and managed to tickle one’s humor bones. Baby Yuveena Parthavi has given a topnotch performance. Nassar, as usual, has done a good job and Jayasudha, though in a cameo, is impressive.

Analysis

This is the debut movie of director Manon. He has selected a thriving subject and has done a pretty good job.
Kaaki was filmed in just 45 days. The movie has the right blend of suspense, comedy and romance. The storyline is quite mundane, but the way it is executed deserves special mention.

What’s there?

1.    The important scenes in the movie are executed well.
2.    There are certain excellent twists in the movie.
3.    The comedy element has turned out good for this movie.
4.    The camera work is one of the highlights of the movie.

What’s not there?

1.    We have seen such movies often and hence it is predictable.
2.    The movie loses tempo in the second half.
3.    There is a dearth of logic in certain sequences (but this can be forgiven since the movie is executed well).
4.    Certain scenes seem to be unnecessary.

Verdict

Horror movie lovers won’t regret watching this movie.
