Plot

The story revolves around Srilu, a budding actress who wants to make her mark in the industry. The main story starts when she goes to a farmhouse which is rumoured to be a haunted place. Soon after the commencement of the shooting, Srilu began to behave as if possessed by someone. Also, Kranti Krishna, who is the hero of this film, falls in love with Srilu throughout the shooting. A subplot is attached to the story of this movie, centering Guruvayya, the farmhouse manager. Is the farmhouse haunted? What will happen with Srilu? What is Kranti’s baclground? Why is Guruvayya So affectionate towards Srilu? The story of this movie reveals the answer to these questions.

Star Performances

Srilu’s performance in this movie felt natural and convincing. In her debut movie, she proved her point and enriched the screen with her presence. Her portrayal of two different personalities is easy to distinguish, and this tells a lot about her acting prowess. Kranti Krishna, the leading man of the movie, played his part with conviction but even such performance wasn’t enough to tackle the poor screenplay of the movie.

Analysis

After impressing the audience with his comedy in various films, actor Prithviraj tried his luck with direction through ‘Kotha Rangula Prapancham’ film. This film also marks the debut of his daughter, Srilu as an actress in the films. Even after being in show business for such a long time, sadly, Prithviraj fails to provide the audience with an engaging story. The main plot of the story of this movie centers on a haunted farmhouse where a director decides to shoot for his upcoming movie along with his crew. But soon after they reach the house, the movie’s heroine starts acting as if she is possessed. There are various other subplots connected to the main story, which the movie tries to explore but none was sufficient enough to hold the viewers’ attention. The whole concept of the movie didn’t feel any different from many other movies based on similar themes. How ironic it is to say that the only good part of a horror movie is its comedy. The first half is comic-oriented with thoughtful home shots. The story in the second half felt lethargic. The mystery associated with Kranti Krishna’s character was also poorly presented. However, the songs and BG music of the movie are lovely. The acting performances are good but fail to justify the poor storyline. The cinematography of the movie was great. Except for some sloppy editing in the first half, the editor did a decent job in the movie. Even though most of the movie took place in a farmhouse there was still a scope for better production.

Verdict

Prithviraj is famous for his comic timing and mannerism as an actor. Even in this movie he delivered a phenomenal performance. However, it feels like the movie ‘Kotha Rangula Prapancham’ was made only to launch her daughter in the industry. This movie lacks various elements necessary for a good movie. Overall, it feels like a wasted opportunity with too much talent.
