Plot

Agasthya, Karthik, and Dev are three happy-go-lucky friends who share a flat in the posh Jubilee Hills locality of Hyderabad. However, a mishap makes the trio run for their lives. They take their girlfriends along, only to realize someone else is also following them all. Will they make it?

Star Performances

As the easy-going trio, the performances of Abhinav, Teja, and Ajay are likable. The supporting cast, especially Raja Ravindra and Sameer, have done justice to their roles.

Analysis

There are movies that more than often justify their titles, but in the wrong way. Thankfully, 'Mistake' does not take that path. It is a thriller, with absurdity and tension in equal amounts. Yet, despite the mix and match, the overall experience is far from bad.

Bharrath Komalapati is only one film, yet he skillfully handles all the twists and turns like a pro. If the intention was to make a compelling thriller sprinkled with a generous dose of fun, full marks for that.

The slick runtime is also a bonus. Despite a predictable plot, the impressive camerawork ensures that viewers will not witness another run-of-the-mill drama. The same goes for the editing. The music by Mana Zenna may not be fantastic, but the background score more than makes up for it.

However, is the movie perfect? For all its brilliance, if there is one thing that prevents 'Mistake' from becoming another ' Mathu Vadalara Click to look into! >> Read More... ' it is the time taken to build the narrative.

Despite the movie being less than 2 hours long the director took a bit too long to introduce all the characters properly. By the time the makers would have got a whiff of it, they accelerated the narrative so much that despite the twists, the entire narrative looked a bit scattered. Even the antagonist is anything but menacing.

Verdict

'Mistake' is a good thriller, but far from being the perfect one. Slick camerawork, good editing, and some acting performances make up for the slow narrative. It is best as a one-time watch.
