Plot

Sara is an aspiring model. She gets selected for an international beauty contest. However, things don’t go as planned, and she is on the run from both the gangsters, as well as the police. Will Sara manage to prove her innocence?

Star Performances

The only good thing about this entire mess was the performance of Ajay Ghosh.

For all the flaws of the movie, at least he tried to make his performance look convincing, even if it had no relevance to either the plot or the movie.

Analysis

The first question that will come to your mind is: What is this movie about? ‘Thalakona’ looks like a crime thriller, but very quickly transforms into an unintentional parody which switches from dark comedy to survival thriller at the drop of a hat.

‘Thalakona’ is that movie which has a beginning but no end. The movie started on a decent note, but lost track midway. At one point, it looked like a BTS version of ‘Yashoda’. Another moment it looked a botched mashup of ‘ Pushpa Bio coming soon... >> Read More... ’ and ‘Resident Evil’. For the camerawork as well as the editing, the less said, the better.

Yet, none of these attempts are even entertaining enough to keep the audiences engaged. Even if this film was an unintentional parody, the audiences wouldn’t have minded much. Sadly, it is not the case with ‘Thalakona’. With a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes, things are bound to get worse.

There is nothing more repulsive than a weak protagonist. But even Apsara Rani cannot save this mess of a movie with the best of her efforts. The only person who actually tried to do something about his role was Ajay Ghosh. Only he was serious enough about his role, and he did his best to make at least those sequences convincing enough where he was enacting his role.

Verdict

‘Thalakona’ is a crime thriller that is best left forgotten. This movie has anything but logic or nuance. The story and the performances are unimpressive. Only Ajay Ghosh tried to save this film with his earnest efforts.
