Venturing away from their usual path, both cinematically and in real life, Sony Picture Animation and Columbia Picture are bringing to the Silver Screen a complete reboot film of the Smurf’s film series. This new extension is an independent animation feature but with all the same characters as in the original comic books.

The plot revolves mainly around Smurfette, who is articulated by Demi Lovato, and her brothers- Papa Smurf (voiced by comedian and voice artist Mandy Patinkin), Clumsy Smurf (characterized by Jack McBrayer from the fame of Late Night with Conan O'Brien), Brainy Smurf (voiced by Danny Pudi, the comedic actor best known for his role in Community), and Hefty Smurf (who is brilliantly casted for being one of Men's Health's "100 Fittest Men of All Time", Joe Manganiello).

The movie follows the siblings going on an expedition in search of a mythical village, and in a rush in doing so, as they need to reach there before their arch-nemesis Gargamel does. Gargamel’s character will be voiced by Rainn Wilson, who previously voiced the villain in the 2009 animated film Monsters vs. Aliens.

Directed and produced by Kelly Asbury and Jordan Kerner, respectively, this exciting soon-to-be-your-kid’s-favorite will hit theaters in April 2017. In addition, Karey Kirkpatrick, the notable screenwriter from the fame of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Charlotte's Web, and James and the Giant Peach among many others, is penning the invigorating plot for this fully animated motion picture. What’s not to be excited for?
